Grammarly is here!!!!
Grammarly is here!!!! Well, it's been here for a while, but as a stand-alone website. (https://www.grammarly.com) Grammarly is a contextual spell check and grammar check program. While it has been available as an extension for Google it would work only in Gmail, Facebook and Twitter. While Google Docs does have a spell check program, the grammar check program was missing and Grammarly would not work in Docs. In its place, I would have students copy their work, paste it into Grammarly, make their corrections, then have to copy and paste it back into Google Docs. For my students with executive functioning challenges, this multi-step process can be a struggle.
So imagine my excitement this week when I went to my Google Docs and this message popped up on my screen:
It's true!!!! While it does not have the premium features available, the free version is working well so far.
If you already have Grammarly set up, next time you open up your Google Docs, this message box will appear. Just click "Turn it on" and the pink underline will begin showing up in your documents. If you don't have it, you can download the extension from the Chrome Web Store.
Happy Writing!!!!!
