Welcome to my blog- updated August 2020!

Thank you for checking out my blog!  After taking a break from blogging (due to work, family, life!), I have decided to get back "out there" and share all of the great tech tools that I am learning about and using in my practice.

I am an Assistive Technology Consultant in Southern Massachusetts and started Adaptech Consulting, LLC 10 years ago.  My goal is to empower and inspire students, educators, and families on how to utilize technology in their lives.  Some of my roles as an Assistive Technology Consultant are:

-Provide evaluations and consultations to assist the team in identifying Assistive Technology tools that will provide equitable access to the curriculum
-Collaborate with educators on creating technology integration plans
-Model the use of Assistive Technology in the classroom and home settings
-Create and provide relevant professional development sessions for all learners

The inspiration for this career path was my son, Liam.  He has a variety of learning challenges and has used assistive technology over the years, from AAC to reading and writing programs.  I have been able to see first hand through his academic career how technology has opened doors to learning and communicating and has made a profound difference in his life.

My "inspiration" (an oldie but goody picture)

My goal with this blog is to share with you what I have learned and will continue to learn about Assistive Technology.  It is an ever-changing field, and some posts will be about items that are new to the field, some may be "new to you", and some may be standard items with a twist.

Thank you for joining me on this journey......it is sure to be an exciting ride.
